As I wait not so patiently for my new camera battery charger to arrive in the mail so I can get back into regular posting, I thought I would publish a quick overview of my current 5 favorite Vancouver brunch spots. I maybe should have titled this post as Top 5 Gastown brunch spots because the majority of my picks come from in and around the neighborhood where I live.

1. Cafe Medina

Yeah I know, predictable right? As far as I’m concerned this is the best brunch that Vancouver has to offer. Apart from offering a very unique Mediterranean menu and the best waffles this city has to offer they also actually serve great coffee. If you’re adventurous try the lavender latte, it’s delicious!

Brunch is served from 8 to Noon Weekdays and 9 to 3pm Weekends.

2. Two Chefs and a Table

This is quite simply one of my favorite breakfast spot. Why? The menu is simple and absolutely delicious. The traditional eggs benny are my favorite, unpretentious and I love the way they serve you coffee in a french press for your table. I especially love this because S doesn’t drink coffee so I get it all to myself!

3. The Pink Pearl for Dim Sum

Ok I admit I may be a little biased towards this place as I’ve been coming for Dim Sum for most of my life and while I’m well aware that there are probably better places in Richmond, I may even have eaten at one, I still love this place. They are very consistent and their dumplings are some of the best I have had in Vancouver.

Open daily at 9am

4. The Alibi Room

This is an old favorite and another Gastown pick. They make really great Caesars if that’s your thing and their Benny is made in a sweet potato pancake so it’s gluten free and a nice change from the usual English muffin.

5. Social at Le Magasin

Apart from making one of my favorite sandwiches in their butcher shop, this place is an excellent option for brunch.  I had been eating sandwiches here for many a month before I ventured and tried their brunch menu. I’m glad I did because it’s really good and although I have only eaten brunch here a few times, it has become one of my favorites.

You had me at Cafe Medina… Vancouver use to have all sorts of fun & classy Brunch spots most have disappeared. It is nice to see a couple of funky hip spots opening up to fill that void. Cafe Medina is one of those gems.
